It's a Hoedown Hop!

Welcome to "The Battle of the Bands" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo friends and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict Band groups! It might be our favorite, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Isha's blog you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose band-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hambo company blog,
Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, May 29, as well as at the Hambo Hoedown challenge blog. We love comments anytime, but the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, May 26 at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!
Now for my creation, an altered cigar box ...

Hey, hey, we're the ...

The Monkees are an American-British pop band that released music from 1966-1970. They also had a TV show from 1966-1968. Since then they've had a number of reunion albums and still do tours. Some of their songs are Hey Hey We're The Monkees, I'm a Believer, Daydream Believer, and Last Train to Clarksville.

To alter my cigar box, I used Hambo's Silly Monkey. He's a perfect match for a paper stack that I bought a few years ago called Cheekee  Monkee by Paper Studios. Here's a side view...

and the top....

Guess where I used Hambo's I Made this sentiment. On the bottom! I thought it added a whimsical
signature to my box.

Now jam on over to Lori's blog for another great Band group that will have you tappin' your foot!

Here's the line-up in case you get lost along the way...

Anything Goes @ Party Time Tuesdays

This week's challenge at Party Time Tuesdays is Anything Goes! I need a birthday card for a friend so I used this cute mouse and cheese stamp by Hambo Stamps to make this card...

I wanted the background to look like Swiss cheese, so I punched the card stock with different size hole punches. Then I sponged around the holes to give it some depth. The image, Say Cheese, is colored with Copics. I just love the sentiment, Cheese, Louise. I used another Hambo sentiment, Another Birthday? inside. It says "Another birthday? Didn't you just have one last year?"

I hope you'll join us over at PTT and share with us your Anything Goes creations.

King of Cool

This week's Party Time Tuesdays' challenge is a color challenge. Here's the color scheme...

and here's my card...

I just got some new Art Impressions stamps & I couldn't wait to ink them up. This is Melvin. He's quite the nerdy guy, but thinks he's "The King of Cool". I love how my card turned out. It's the perfect card to give it my hubby to send to someone.
Come on over to Party Time Tuesdays and join in the challenge. Show us what you can do with  these colors.

Sparkle! Sparkle!

Party Time Tuesday's challenge this week is to create a project that sparkles, shimmers and/or shines. I reached for my glitter mat pack of paper and created this sparkly birthday card.

IRL this card is very sparkly. The DSP has glitter on it and the silver flower shape is punched from silver glitter cardstock. Even the ribbon has a irredescent shine to it. I stamped the Happy Birthday image in red and added a red bow for a pop of color.

Hop on over to PTT challenge and join us. Show us your sparkle, shimmer & shine.

A Hoedown Birthday Challege

Happy Birthday Tim!

The Hambo Hoedown Challenge this week was to make a project to toast ( or roast!) Tim. Tim is the amazing and zany Hambo illustrator, and husband of owner Monica! For your creation, you had to use any Hambo image, rubber or digital, and create a project that showed:

    1) burned edges or soot technique OR
2) checkboard or gingham patterns

I used Hambo's rubber image Caveman with the sentiment Back Then. I tried to burn just the edges. One corner burned a little too much, but I liked the shape and it inspired my layout. The Bone stamp in the corner is a discontinued Hambo stamp. To make them stand out more, I used a glaze pen on them. I used the last of my animal print ribbon for the perfect embellishiment for my cave-manly card.

Cool Shades Cupcake

The third week of each month is always a COOL SHADES challenge at Paper Smooches. Here are the colors for this week's challenge...

Here's my card using those colors and a  free Cupcake digi from Paper Smooches...

The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up set Sweet Little Sentiments. I think it's perfect for this cute little cupcake.

Hambo Blog Hop

Welcome to "Broadway Bound!" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo customers and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict Broadway show titles! It might be our favorite, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Deanne's blog you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose Broadway-themed creation  tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way!  Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will  be announced on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Tuesday, September 25. We love comments anytime, but the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, September 23 at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!

My card depicts the musical The Full Monty. The Full Monty is about six unemployed steelworkers who decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for the Chippendales. They declare that their show will be better than the Chippendale dancers because they'll go "the full monty" — strip all the way!

I used one of my favorite Hambo stamps, Flasher. I just love this guy in his trench coat! Today he's not flashing. He's in the spotlight dancing and going "the full monty"! I thought the sentiment What's Up? was perfect to make this card a little on the naughty side!

Hope you enjoyed the show. It's not over yet. Dance over to Loll's blog for another great Broadway hit!

I'm Back at the Hoedown!

I didn't plan to take the summer off, but I was so busy that I just didn't get around to stamping & posting. It was a great summer though...time with my granddaughters, time at the beach and an amazing time with my family on an Alaskan cruise! Now that things are back to normal, whatever normal is, I hope to get my mojo back & start stamping!

I've really missed playing at the Hoedown with the Bacon Bits so I'm glad that I had a chance to play this week in the Hambo Hoedown Challenge #82 - Show Us Your Gifts. The challenge is to use a Hambo image, rubber or digi, to show your gifts...so anything goes!

I love to make special fold cards, so I made a pop up card for the challenge. My card was inspired by LeeAnn Greff's card that you can see here. I used Party Sheep and Get This Party Started to show my "gifts", which are inside of my pop up card too!

Here's the front

Here are my "gifts".

It was fun dancing at the Hoedown. Stop back on Friday to see what I made for Hambo's "Broadway Bound" Blog Hop.

Card Cupids

I'm very honored & proud to be one of Card Cupids' guest designers for April. Card Cupids, with the help of numerous volunteers, provides Card Cuddle Care Packages to children in hospitals, foster care, and homeless shelters as well as children facing difficulties, regardless of their economic background. If you'd like to learn more about this wonderful organization and how you can support their efforts check HERE.

Card Cupids also has a Birthday Bundles Program that provides ongoing support to a homeless shelter in the Northern Virginia area. They provide each birthday child with a goodie bag filled with a bundle of cards and a new toy, game, or book.
Here are two of the cards that I designed for Card Cupids for their birthday project. The first one uses a cute image from Whimsie Doodles called Birthday Turtle.

This one uses Silly Monkey from Hambo Stamps.

I'll be sending both of these cards to Card Cupids, along with some others that I've made.
Thank you Card Cupids for the wonderful job that you do and for choosing me as a guest designer.

I am also submitting my Silly Monkey card to Party Time Tuesday's Anything Goes + Kraft challenge.

Card Cupids

I'm very exicted to have been chosen as one of the Guest designers for Card Cupids. Card Cupids is a wonderful organization that "provides encouragement and joy by sending cards and goodies such as stuffed animals, coloring books and art supplies to children who are facing difficult challenges in their young lives regardless of their economic background." Read more about Card Cupids and how you can help here.

I've aleady sent some cards to Card Cupids and I'm working on more. I made this card using a cute image from Whimsy Doodles April release called Birthday Turtle.

Card Cupid also has a monthly challenge. This month's challenge is to creat a journal. It can be a store bought journal or composition book that you alter or you could get really creative and create the whole journal. You might even win a prize. You can find all of the details here.

The Big 60!

This week's featured sets at the Cutting Cafe are all about numbers. Regina has designed number sets for many occassions...0-9 Numbers, 0-9 Shaped Card Sets, and Milestone Number Shaped Cards. I made this card using the Milestone set.

I thought Stella Birthday - one more candle by Bugaboo Digi Stamps was a perfect image for a 60th birthday card. I colored her with my Copics and used papers from a Momento Birthday Pack that I got at Michael's. I love how my card turned out. I hope my sister-in-law likes it!

I also submitted my card in the CMC Copic Challenge #37 to use lots of laughs and fun, bright colors.

All About Birthdays

It's all about birthdays at the Cutting Cafe this week. The featured sets are the Party Hat Shaped Card Set, Fun with Party Hats and Birthday Tags. I used an image from the Fun with Party Hats set to make a birthday card.

I love how this card turned out...so cheery! I used some DSP from a pad of papers I bought at Michael's on sale. It's all double sided textured birthday themed paper. I love all the bright colors and designs. I used layout FTL178 from Clean and Simple Stamping.

If you're looking for birthday themed images, sentiments or shaped cards, check out the Cutting Cafe. You'll find lots of inspiration. Leave a comment and you might win some free goodies.

Sending Because...

I love Hambo Stamps! Here's a birthday card I made using Sending Because...

IRL it sparkles...the DSP is glittery  and so are the star brad and the ribbon. This will be a perfect birthday card for a friend who is celebrating a big one this spring!

Happy Birthday Hambo Hoedown!

It's Wednesday and that means Hambo Hoedown time! Today is a special celebration, because the Hoedown is ONE YEAR OLD today! We are celebrating with newly released Bailey Cupcake - the second digital image in the "Bailey" line. Don't miss seeing the newest picture of the real Bailey too. He's such a cutie. It's at the Hoedown today!

For the celebration, I made a double dutch fold card starring Bailey.

Look how it opens! Such a fun card and it  was easy to make. SCS has a good tutorial if you're interested.

Each participant this week will, of course, receive next week's image in their mailbox FREE! Play along each week, and you will have oodles of fun Hambo digital images! But there is more! Since it's the Hoedown's birthday, each participant will ALSO receive a party goody bag, with an ADDITIONAL FREE image of their choice from the Hambo Digital Store! How fun is that?!

What else is happening? All of the new Bacon Bits Design Team have been introduced and now it's time to head over to the Hoedown and see their projects. You don't want to miss out on the party fun!

Hoedown Time

This week's challenge at the Hambo Hoedown is to use two or more circles of different sizes on a project. I made another birthday card for my hubby using the Hambo rubber stamp Dentures.

I used scalloped circles for the image and smaller circles to make the scallop border under the ribbon. The sentiment is Hambo's Getting Old Bites. The inside of the card says "Losing your teeth sucks!" Now my hubby is not losing his teeth (thank goodness!) but I thought it was funny and appropriate for turning 65!

Most of you may remember that I'm a former member of Hambo Stamps' digital design team, so most of my Hambo images are digital. Since I used rubber stamps for this card, I added Hambo's Safe Stamps as my signature on the back!

Big Card for a Big Birthday!

This week's featured set at the Cutting Cafe is Long Sentiment Tags. This set has 8 tags in two different sizes. I wanted to use the birthday tag to make a card for my hubby whose birthday is next week. At first I was going to use the small tag to make an A2 size card. Then I decided that since this is a BIG birthday he needs a BIG card! So this is what I came up with...

I love how it turned out. I used a sheet of 8 1/2  x  11 cardstock folded lengthwise for the base of the card. Luckily it doesn't have to be mailed!

Birthday CARd

I saw this layout in the SU catalog and thought it would work well with one of Bombshell's classic car sets. I still have my friend Mary G's sets that I borrowed ( I promise to return them soon Mary!) so I made this card using Speed Shop by Bombshell Stamps. I decided to stamp the car on colored cardstock. I used SU's So Saffron. Then I shaded it using my Copic markers and blender pen.

This will make a great masculine card when I need it. I think I'll try using my Copics on some more colored cardstock. I liked how it turned out. Thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday Monica!

It's a Surprise Birthday Hop for Monica Hunter! Monica is the owner of Hambo Stamps and tomorrow is her birthday. A few of us got together and decided to throw a little surprise party for her, and we would like you to join us! If you arrived here via Isabelle's blog, you are in the right place. Otherwise, start at the beginning with Jenn's blog so you don't miss out on any party fun. Every birthday has to have presents, and this one has one for you! One random hopper that completes the hop will receive a Hambo Birthday surprise! The winner will be announced at the Hambo Hoedown on Wednesday, August 17.

My project uses the oh so funny Blind Mice digi by Hambo Stamps. It's one of my favorites.

I helped the mice fix their birthday wish for Monica by making them pop up and stand on their hands (and hats)!

Enjoy your special day!

Now party on over to Nora Anne's blog for some more birthday fun.

Rollin' rollin' rollin!

Rollin' rollin' rollin! STEAMROLLER keeps rollin'....right through the GATE! This week's Hoedown challenge is to use STEAMROLLER digi and the sentiment by Hambo Stamps to create a gate-fold card. Here's my card...

I used the stitched ribbon to make a road for STEAMROLLER and flower soft to give him some steam! Here's a close-up of the image and the inside with the rest of the sentiment...

Gatefold cards are easy to make. There's a good tutorial on SCS if you want to try one. Come on over and join the Hambo Hoedown too. The challenges are fun.

Oink! Oink!

It's Hoedown time again! I love making cards for the weekly challenges at the Hambo Hoedown. If you haven't joined in, you're missing all the fun and free digi stamps!

This week's challenge is to use the Pig Inmate digi by Hambo Stamps to create a birthday card, but ribbon is not allowed. You can use twine, string, thread or fibers but NO RIBBON! Here's my no ribbon card...

This is such a fun image and the sentiment just had to have an OINK! OINK! to go with it!

I think I'll finish the inside with Go Hog Wild!

Hop on over to the Hoedown and see what fun projects the other Bacon Bits made. Play along with us. Can't wait to see what you create.
