A Little Thumb Thing Green!

At the Hambo Hoedown this week the challenge is to incorporate scallops into your design.  I decided to make a little thumb thing for my granddaughters for St. Patrick's Day...

I used scalloped ovals and borders and Hambo's Fingerprint and Little Thumb Thing stamps. The hat stamp is from the Stampin'Up set Snow Buddies. I drew on the facial features and arms and legs. Then I attached the card front to a plastic box so it opened like a book.
Inside I put a little thumb thing green to wear and a little thumb thing green to spend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hambo Hoedown

This week at the Hambo Hoedown the challenge is all about watercolor. I decided to use watercolor to make a background for my card. The technique is call Watercolor Wash Background and you can find the directions at the Techniques Zone. Basically you scribble water based markers on a non-stick surface. (I used wax paper) and spritz over it with water. Then place your cardstock on top of the water spritzed marker colors and rub gently with your fingertips to make your background. Here's my card...

I was going to water color the image too, but decided to paper piece it instead. I think it looks better against the background. I used Hambo rubber stamps Duck Umbrella and Sunshine & Happiness. This was a fun challenge and I tried a new to me technique!

I'm Back at the Hoedown!

I didn't plan to take the summer off, but I was so busy that I just didn't get around to stamping & posting. It was a great summer though...time with my granddaughters, time at the beach and an amazing time with my family on an Alaskan cruise! Now that things are back to normal, whatever normal is, I hope to get my mojo back & start stamping!

I've really missed playing at the Hoedown with the Bacon Bits so I'm glad that I had a chance to play this week in the Hambo Hoedown Challenge #82 - Show Us Your Gifts. The challenge is to use a Hambo image, rubber or digi, to show your gifts...so anything goes!

I love to make special fold cards, so I made a pop up card for the challenge. My card was inspired by LeeAnn Greff's card that you can see here. I used Party Sheep and Get This Party Started to show my "gifts", which are inside of my pop up card too!

Here's the front

Here are my "gifts".

It was fun dancing at the Hoedown. Stop back on Friday to see what I made for Hambo's "Broadway Bound" Blog Hop.

Pick FOUR

The Hambo Hoedown Challenge this week is to use Candles or any other Hambo image and create a project that incorporates four of something (4 brads, 4 buttons, 4 patterns, 4 colors, etc.). I used 4716 Duck Umbrella along with 4704 Sunshine & Happines to make my card. I paper pieced the umbrella and used four dewdrops, one in each corner.

Hop over to the Hoedown and see what the other Bacon Bits have made to inspire you. Then "PICK  FOUR" and play! You might win a free digi!

I'll add this card to the others that I'm making and sending to Card Cupids during my month as Guest Designer. If you'd like to help support Card Cupids, check HERE for details.

Smile!

Today is the last day to enter your project in the Hoedown. The challenge is to make a card with an extra fold using the free digi image Paper Boy or any Hambo image. I used Hambo's 4105 Gator and 4106 Crack a Smile to make a gatefold card with a twist.

The twist is that I adhered the right side of the image and the left side of the sentiment to the gatefolds. So it opens like this...

Isn't that paper prefect for this image? It's bumpy just like a gator's skin, not that I've ever touched a gator's skin, but that's what it reminds me of! I got it at Hobby Lobby. I made the gator's skin on the image "bumpy" by dabbing it with the tip of my blender pen after I colored it.
So hurry over and join in the Hoedown!

Hoedown Time

This week's challenge at the Hambo Hoedown is to use two or more circles of different sizes on a project. I made another birthday card for my hubby using the Hambo rubber stamp Dentures.

I used scalloped circles for the image and smaller circles to make the scallop border under the ribbon. The sentiment is Hambo's Getting Old Bites. The inside of the card says "Losing your teeth sucks!" Now my hubby is not losing his teeth (thank goodness!) but I thought it was funny and appropriate for turning 65!

Most of you may remember that I'm a former member of Hambo Stamps' digital design team, so most of my Hambo images are digital. Since I used rubber stamps for this card, I added Hambo's Safe Stamps as my signature on the back!

Late for the Hoedown!!

I missed the deadline for the Hambo Hoedown challenge by about 2 minutes! I forgot that the deadline had changed to Mondays by the time I remembered, I got a late start. Well I wanted to share my card anyway. So here it is...

The challenge was to use Camera Guy digi and one of the sentiments along with a frame somewhere on your project. I've been wanting to try this folded paper frame and I love how it turned out! SCS has a great tutorial by Beate in the resources forum if you want to try it. I wanted to have a black and white photo type color scheme so I only used W Copics except for his face and hands.

Come on over and join in the Hoedown and get some free digi stamps, but don't be late!!

I'm also submitting my card to Paper Sundaes Challenge #95 to use a digital image. I love digital images and use them a lot. They are so versatile. Take the challenge. You might win some free digi images.

Bargello Snail

This week's challenge over at the Hambo Hoedown is to use Snail Rake with any technique from the Splitcoaststampers Resources Page to make a project. There are so many great techniques, but one I've been wanting to try is the Bargello Technique. This technique is borrowed from needlepoint to create an interesting background with thin strips of paper Here's my Bargello snail...

It didn't turn out quite like I thought it would, but it made an interesting background. I think one of my papers should have been a more solid design and maybe a little darker. It was a fun and easy technique. I plan to try it again and see if I can get a more needlepoint looking effect.

Buzzzz...

This week's Hoedown challenge is to make a monochromatic card using Mosquito digi by Hambo Stamps. I made a get well card that I think will be perfect the next time someone I know catches a bug!

The idea for the magnifying glass came from a card that I made at a shoebox swap designed by a stamping friend Theresa Saylor. The sentiment is a Hambo rubber stamp Caught a Bug. Hambo Stamps also has a rubber stamp, Magnifying Glass, that would go great with this sentiment. Here's a close up of the image.

I tried to give the mosquito's eyes a buggy look with Crystal Effects but ruined my image twice!  I finally used a glaze pen on the eyes and wings to give them a shiny translucent look.

Buzz on over to the Hoedown and check out what the rest of the Bacon Bits have made for this challenge. Then let's see what you can do with that pesky mosquito!
