True Rebel

It's Hoedown time again. This week's challenge is to use Rebel with the sentiment by Hambo Stamps to "stitch" up a card. You can use real, faux or hand stitching. Since I've never sewn on a card before, I decided dig out the sewing machine and try it. It was easy. I kept it simple for my first try, just a straight stitch for a border.  I think I'm ready to try a zigzag stitch next time!

The layout was inspired by a card designed by my very talented friend my Amanda Wayer. I sponged the oval and Rebel's uniform. Then I  added just a hint of color with my Copics.

Come join the fun at the Hoedown. Let's see what you can "stitch" up.

Two Cards

I received 2 cards a few weeks ago that I'm finally getting around to sharing. The first is from my Secret Sister. Sorry I've taken so long to thank you. I love the image. It's so pretty and you did a great job of coloring it. The DSP is perfect with this image. Thank you SS.

The second card is a store bought card from my BFF Kathy. We've been friends for over 20 years and have joined Weight Watchers together many times during our friendship. Recently we've joined again and are trying to get back on track. This card is us to a T!

If only the WW Prrogram worked that way!! LOL!!

Thank you SS and BFF for thinking of me and making me smile.

Buzzzz...

This week's Hoedown challenge is to make a monochromatic card using Mosquito digi by Hambo Stamps. I made a get well card that I think will be perfect the next time someone I know catches a bug!

The idea for the magnifying glass came from a card that I made at a shoebox swap designed by a stamping friend Theresa Saylor. The sentiment is a Hambo rubber stamp Caught a Bug. Hambo Stamps also has a rubber stamp, Magnifying Glass, that would go great with this sentiment. Here's a close up of the image.

I tried to give the mosquito's eyes a buggy look with Crystal Effects but ruined my image twice!  I finally used a glaze pen on the eyes and wings to give them a shiny translucent look.

Buzz on over to the Hoedown and check out what the rest of the Bacon Bits have made for this challenge. Then let's see what you can do with that pesky mosquito!

Rollin' rollin' rollin!

Rollin' rollin' rollin! STEAMROLLER keeps rollin'....right through the GATE! This week's Hoedown challenge is to use STEAMROLLER digi and the sentiment by Hambo Stamps to create a gate-fold card. Here's my card...

I used the stitched ribbon to make a road for STEAMROLLER and flower soft to give him some steam! Here's a close-up of the image and the inside with the rest of the sentiment...

Gatefold cards are easy to make. There's a good tutorial on SCS if you want to try one. Come on over and join the Hambo Hoedown too. The challenges are fun.

New Catty Party

What a fun time stamping the day away with good friends at Amanda's new catty party yesterday. Here are the cards/projects that we made...

We decided that this project qualified for the PITA Award.  But it tuned out so cute!

Amanda made a cute Thank You flower for each of us. See that cute charm attached to the flower?

Here's a close-up of it. It's a scissors charm. The charm reads "Inspire".

Amanda you really do inspire us! Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon. Thanks Jane for being the hostess with the mostest!

aRound at the Hoedown

Cool Dog is just hangin' aROUND the beach during the dog days of summer so the Hoedown challenge this week is to  make a ROUND card using Cool Dog digi by Hambo Stamps. No squares or rectangles allowed.

I made a ROUND easel card of Cool Dog floating aROUND in the ocean. I used my nesties and a scallop punch along with some stickers to make my beach scene and added some paper piercing for interest.  Don't be square. Come aROUND to the Hoedown. It's the COOL thing to do!

Maryland Wedding

This card is for the Featured Stamper's Challenge on SCS. This week's featured stamper is Cindy aka CJoy. She has many wonderful cards in her gallery. It was hard to pick which card I wanted to CASE. I need a wedding card for a friend's son who is getting married in August so I decided to CASE Cindy's Orchid Opulence Wedding card .

I changed the size of the card from square to A2. The theme for the wedding is Maryland so I changed the colors to black, red and yellow. I used a different Cuttlebug EB folder for the center panel. For the flower I used a Black-eyed Susan digi image from OWH in place of the Prima flower on Cindy's card. I love how it turned out. I hope Leo & Lauren will like it too.

Welcome Summer!

When I get hungry for something cool and refreshing on a hot, humid summer day, the first thing that comes to my mind is ice cream! I made this card for SCS Free For All Challenge. The challenge is celebrating July by making a card that highlights one of the holidays listed on this link  Fun & Funky July Holidays. There are some really different holidays but I chose a tame one, July 17, National Ice Cream Day.

This cool image is Ice Cream Man digi by Hambo Stamps. I paper pieced the umbrella and ice cream cart. I made the background look like Neopolitan ice cream by embossing the cardstock with Cuttlebug's Divine Swirls folder. I used my Scor Buddy to make the ice cream cone layer. I love how this card turned out. What better way to welcome summer than with ice cream!
