Bubbles! Bubbles! Bubbles!

This week's challenge at the Hoedown is to use bubbles with any Hambo digi or rubber stamp. I looked through my Hambo stamps and found this funny image

It's Hambo Stamps Dentures and the sentiment is Getting Old Bites. There are bubbles in the glass and I thought the patterned paper looked like lots of colored bubbles. I made a big bubble from vellum and popped it up with part of the sentiment. Now to decide who to send it to....hehehe!!

It's a Hoedown Hop!

Welcome to "The Battle of the Bands" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo friends and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict Band groups! It might be our favorite, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Isha's blog you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose band-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hambo company blog,
Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, May 29, as well as at the Hambo Hoedown challenge blog. We love comments anytime, but the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, May 26 at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!
Now for my creation, an altered cigar box ...

Hey, hey, we're the ...

The Monkees are an American-British pop band that released music from 1966-1970. They also had a TV show from 1966-1968. Since then they've had a number of reunion albums and still do tours. Some of their songs are Hey Hey We're The Monkees, I'm a Believer, Daydream Believer, and Last Train to Clarksville.

To alter my cigar box, I used Hambo's Silly Monkey. He's a perfect match for a paper stack that I bought a few years ago called Cheekee  Monkee by Paper Studios. Here's a side view...

and the top....

Guess where I used Hambo's I Made this sentiment. On the bottom! I thought it added a whimsical
signature to my box.

Now jam on over to Lori's blog for another great Band group that will have you tappin' your foot!

Here's the line-up in case you get lost along the way...

A B C D E F G ...

The challenge at the Hambo Hoedown this week is an ALPHABET CHALLENGE.Use any Hambo image, digi or rubber, choose a letter of the alphabet, then use 2 or 3 things that start with that letter. Here's my card. Can you guess what letter I chose?

I used Hambo's digi image Geranium. I printed it twice and colored it with my Red Copics. Then I cut out one image and popped it up over the other image. I scored lines around the image to frame it. I don't usually use big bows on my cards, but this needed something at the bottom to balance the image so I added Ribbon and a bow and a button with a Rhinestone center. My letter was R!

Oh Blarney!

The Hambo Hoedown is full of Blarney this week! That's right...this week's challenge is to use Monkey Irish, any other Hambo image, or any image of your choice and  incorporate rainbow colors in your project. I used Monkey Irish that I got free for playing in last week's challenge, and used rainbow colors and rainbows on my card.

I thought this paper was perfect for the challenge. I used 5 different colors of twine for a rainbow effect. Did you know that a small scalloped oval makes a good cloud! This will make a perfect St. Patty's Day card for someone special.

Now for a real challenge, try kissing the Blarney Stone! The famous Stone is set in the wall of the of Blarey Castle 83 feet above the ground. To kiss it you have to lean over backwards (grasping an iron rail) from the parapet walk of the battlements.

Here I am getting ready to kiss The Blarney Stone...

Here's my hubby kissing The Blarney Stone...

We did it!!

Smile...It's Hoedown Time

The Hambo Hoedown challenge this week is to create a design that incorporates both a LARGE and a SMALL element in your project. I used Hambo's Gator  & Crack a Smile to make this card.

My LARGE and a SMALL elements are the circles...a large circle behind the image, small circles for the sentiment and teeny tiny circles made by the paper piercing. What a fun challenge.

CAS Hoedown

This week's Hambo Hoedown challenge is to use any Hambo image rubber or digital to make a CAS (clean and simple) design I used the digi image Microphone that I received free for playing in last week's challenge. Here's my card...

I colored Microphone with my C1, 3, 5, 7 and Y 13, 15, 17 Copics For fun I added a gold brad and a red and white twine cord. This was a fun card to make and I enjoyed making a CAS design.

A LittleThumbthing

Hip Hip Hooray! I had time to play at the Hambo Hoedown this week. The challenge was to use metal on whatever you created. So I looked through my stash and found some metal bottle top magnets. Here's what I came up with ...

Here's a close-up of the bottle cap magnet.

I used Hambo's Fingerprint  and Thumb Thing stamps. Yes it is a stamp and not my thumbprint! For the facial features I used stamps from the Stampin'Up set Make a Monster. I drew on the hands and feet. After I punched out the image I put a clear circle sticker on top of it and attached it inside the bottle cap with a 1 " pop dot. I attached the finished bottle cap to the tag with a glue dot so that it can be removed and used as a magnet.

Going Round @ the Hoedown

The Hoedown challenge this week is to use a Hambo digi image or stamp to make a circle shaped card that has spirals or swirls somewhere on it. I used Penguins and Have an Ice Day to make a telescoping circle card. Here it is closed...

and here it is opened...

Can you find where I used swirls? The snow is dry embossed with swirls and there's a swirl brad on the front. It was a fun card to make and perfect for the cold weather we've been having here in Maryland.

Soda Pop Pigs

This week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge was to use any Hambo digi or rubber stamp and create a project that uses felt. I used Hambo's Soda Shop Pigs and Happy Hamiversary  and felt hearts to make my card...

I love special fold cards . Last year my friend Jane sent me an easel card that was a little different than what I had seen before. I call it a side easel card. To make it, you score and fold the front from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. Then attach the front panel to the lower part of the front. I cut felt scalloped hearts with my Nestibilities. The larger heart is popped up to hold up the front.
I love Hambo's challenges. I'm glad I had a chance to play this week. Come back on Friday and see what I made for Hambo's Blog Hop "Name That 'Toon".

A Hoedown Birthday Challege

Happy Birthday Tim!

The Hambo Hoedown Challenge this week was to make a project to toast ( or roast!) Tim. Tim is the amazing and zany Hambo illustrator, and husband of owner Monica! For your creation, you had to use any Hambo image, rubber or digital, and create a project that showed:

    1) burned edges or soot technique OR
2) checkboard or gingham patterns

I used Hambo's rubber image Caveman with the sentiment Back Then. I tried to burn just the edges. One corner burned a little too much, but I liked the shape and it inspired my layout. The Bone stamp in the corner is a discontinued Hambo stamp. To make them stand out more, I used a glaze pen on them. I used the last of my animal print ribbon for the perfect embellishiment for my cave-manly card.

Caught a Bug?

This week's Hambo Hoedown challenge is all about CIRCLES.  The challenge is to use the digi Cells or any other Hambo image, rubber or digital, and create a project that incorporates circles.  When I saw the sentiment "Caught a Bug?" with the digi image, I knew what I wanted to make...a Get Well Kit. My inspiration came from a kit made by Carolyn King that I saw on her blog, Kings on Paddington. Here's my version using Cells and circles!

The outside...

The inside (sentiment from Hambo's digi Doghouse Blues) ...

The kit includes tissues, cough drops, chapstick and teabags, all things to help someone with a cold feel better. Add a crossword puzzle book and/or a paperback book and I'm all ready to cheer up any of my friends or family that are under the weather.

I used Hambo's Halloween Checklist. Here's a close up of the list...

This is exactly what happens at my house, so now hubby hides the candy until Halloween night!

Hoedown Time

Back from the beach just in time to play at the Hambo Hoedown. This week's challenge is to make a black & white card. I used one of my favorite images, Skunk.  Here's my card...

The sentiment is also a Hambo stamp called It Stinks. It's perfect for this image and for a fun late birthday card.

It's time for the biggest blog hop on the internet! Operation Write Home holds this blog hop every year and it is always full of great inspiration. OWH is a wonderful organization that sends cards to our soldiers for them to use in corresponding with their loved ones.

The challenge for the hop is to make a card using one of OWH's sketches. I used sketch #81 flipped upside down. Here's my card...

I used an image from Hambo Stamps Hop Art Designs called Trena with Heart . Proceeds from sales of the images in this collection  benefit Operation Write Home by helping with postage and supplies. The paper piercing design is from Fred She Said. My card also fits this week's Hambo Hoedown challenge to use paper piercing.

Have fun visiting the blogs this weekend. I'm sure you'll be amazed. Enjoy the holiday and remember to thank our Veterans and their families for their service past and present.

Tutu-ly Fun

This week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge is flowers, flowers , flowers! The challenge is to use Catching Butterflies, or any Hambo image,  to create a project with flowers! For my card I used the adorable 1722 Ballerina Hippo and 1521 Tutu-ly Fun sentiment.

I used an old SCS sketch, # 184. I paper pierced around the large square and in the corners. I'd planned  to pierce around the smaller squares too, but forgot.  The DSP, the tutu, and Hippo's eyelashes have some glitter on them, so IRL this cards SPARKLES!

My hubby has planned a PopPop day with each of our granddaughters. Tomorrow is Emma's day and next Monday is Aislinn's turn. I think this is the perfect card to give to Emma tomorrow .Now I'd better get busy and make one for Aislinn!

Hoedown Recyle Challege

I bought this craft frame on clearance for 50 cents. Actually I bought 2 planning to let my granddaughters color them. Well it never happened and they've outgrown coloring premade projects. They would much rather use my stamps and stuff and design their own. Yeah!! So they've been in my stash for ages...perfect for this week's Hoedown challenge to use Goat or any Hambo image and a sentiment to create a project that incorporates something recycled.

Here's my desk calendar made from the recycled craft frame...

Wouldn't checking this calendar for the date give you a chuckle?

When I saw this sentiment that comes with Goat digi, I knew it would also go perfectly with Ham on the Run.  This little piggie and his cute smile and bare butt just crack me up!

It was easy to turn this frame into a base for a desk calendar. I sawed off the crayon point sticking out on the side so both sides were straight. Then sanded the edges and sponged the edges with Old Olive ink. I added papers, calendar (thanks, Angie), felt flower recycled from a birthday decoration, and ribbon along with the image and sentiment.

Check your stash. I KNOW you have something you can recycle. Then come over and play with us at the Hoedown.

I've also submitted my desk calendar in the Anything Goes Challenge Blog - Time or Steampunk...a calendar is time, right?

Anything Goes at the Hoedown!

This week at the Hambo Hoedown anything goes as long as you use a Hambo image. If you played in the Hoedown last week, you received the Fortune Cookie digi image to play with. As a member of the rubber stamp team, I decided to use one of Hambo's newer rubber images called Hot Chocolate.

Aren't these the cutest penguins? I paper pieced the mug and used a matching background. I added the coral ribbon for a pop of color. IRL it has a little sparkle on the penguins' hats and the steam from the hot chocolate.

Hop over to the Hoedown to see what fabulous creations other DT members  have made to inspire you. Then join in the fun at the Hoedown...anything goes!

Christmas Coffee Girl

Coffee Girl by Hambo Stamps is all dressed up for the holidays!

I've missed playing in the Hoedown for the last few weeks, and it was fun to get back to the Hoedown. This week's challenge was to make a card with more than one fold. I made this hidden gift card holder. It was hard to photograph and show the second fold. Can you find it?

The front of the card is folded back into the inside to form the pocket for the gift card. The image panel hides the gift card until you open the card. Isn't that clever? I saw this design on Amanda Mertz's blog Did You Stamp Today? It was easy and fun to make.
