This week's Hoedown challenge is to make a monochromatic card using Mosquito digi by Hambo Stamps. I made a get well card that I think will be perfect the next time someone I know catches a bug!

The idea for the magnifying glass came from a card that I made at a shoebox swap designed by a stamping friend Theresa Saylor. The sentiment is a Hambo rubber stamp Caught a Bug. Hambo Stamps also has a rubber stamp, Magnifying Glass, that would go great with this sentiment. Here's a close up of the image.

I tried to give the mosquito's eyes a buggy look with Crystal Effects but ruined my image twice!  I finally used a glaze pen on the eyes and wings to give them a shiny translucent look.

Buzz on over to the Hoedown and check out what the rest of the Bacon Bits have made for this challenge. Then let's see what you can do with that pesky mosquito!

  1. Your card is awesome! I love that magnifying glass - so clever!
No bad bugs for me please. What an awesome get-well.

  2. LOVE it, Paula!!! Great job with this fun image and the mono challenge!! I missed out on getting this week's image...guess I'll go buy him so I can play along!! I already have an idea for a card!

  3. This is such a fun card. Great job with the challenge. Great job on the card.
